FOOD ALLERGIES Dining services strives to meet the dietary needs of every student. Our goal is to provide a well balanced diet for all of our guests, including those with food allergies.
Food Allergy Policy:
1. A student must provide documentation from an approved health professional on diagnosis and recommendation for food avoidances. In addition, the student may be requested to meet with the campus physician. 2. The student must schedule a meeting with the staff dietitian, Carolyn Powell, in order to accommodate needs with the Heilman Dining Center. 3. If necessary, dining services will prepare special meals and/or obtain a limited amount of dry food products in order to fulfill a complete balanced meal.
All other requests will be evaluated. This process may involve a meeting with the student, dietitian, and director of dining services.
While every effort is made to identify allergic ingredients to those counseled, there is always a risk of contamination with allergic ingredients. There is also a possibility that manufacturers of the commercial foods we use could change the formulation at any time, without notice. As well, the Heilman Dining Center is a self-service establishment; therefore control of cross-contamination is not possible. You need to be aware of this risk, recognizing that neither dining services nor myself will assume any liability for adverse reactions to foods you may consume or come in contact with while eating at any University establishment.
Please use the Nutrition Calculatorto determine which food items contain nuts. Look for the nut symbol.
