Demonstration Kitchen
The Demonstration Kitchen is committed to promoting lifelong culinary and nutrition skills through cooking demonstrations and classes. These programs encourage and promote healthy eating with fresh, minimally processed ingredients while also building community among students, staff, and faculty. Located in the Well-Being Center, we strive to build strong nutrition habits and create a culture of health and wellness through food.
Participants are empowered to make balanced food choices, understand good nutrition practices, and learn cooking techniques. Demonstrations are taught by the UR registered dietitians, UR chefs and guest chefs from the Richmond area. Click here to watch a sweet potato demo!
Classes and Events
Cooking Basics are student cooking classes that focus on essential techniques and how to make recipes using them. Each week highlights a new cooking skill, and participants will receive a free piece of cooking equipment to start building their kitchen tools. Students will have hands-on cooking time and will leave with a free meal!
Lunch and Learn cooking classes at the Demonstration Kitchen are open to full-time students, staff, and faculty. These classes have a nutrition focus, and attendees receive a free meal.
