The Cellar Starting Lineup: New and Improved

If you’ve ever walked past Westhampton Lake on a Wednesday, you’d be familiar with the aroma of tater tots and freshly grilled sandwiches, the roar of sports fans, the sounds of laughter, and the welcoming ambiance of The Cellar. An experience that used to occur only on Wednesday can once again be enjoyed any day of the week.  

Michael Scampoli and Corry Comstock, the new co-managers of The Cellar, crossed paths while working together in the Heilman Dining Center.  

Both managers bring years of experience to the table. Prior to joining the team at the Heilman Dining Center six years ago, Scampoli worked at Johnny Rockets and in the University of Richmond catering department. Comstock began his culinary career in the hotel industry, receiving his associate degree in Culinary Arts/Restaurant Management and bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management from SUNY Delhi. He also studied abroad at the Apicius International School of Hospitality in Florence, Italy. They are excited about the new hours and are finding room for innovations this year at The Cellar. 

“We’re showcasing our culinary ability,” says Comstock. “The big thing we’re pushing for is making a lot of things in-house versus buying frozen products.” For example, the chicken wings are high-quality, and the burgers are now composed of two 4-ounce patties from Seven Hills, a Virginia-based company. 

Over the course of this year, Scampoli and Comstock hope to introduce a “pizza of the week” special as well as feature their award-winning 2 AM Burger, comprised of a double burger patty stuffed in between an English muffin with sriracha aioli, cheddar cheese, a fried egg, and bacon.  

The Cellar managers are eager to welcome the public back into their establishment and enjoy working closely with students. The Cellar is now open seven days a week, serving an average of 400 customers a night! Keep an eye out for the best seller at The Cellar, the lightly breaded chicken tenders with a subtle hint of buttermilk flavor. Listed below are the new and improved hours for The Cellar: 

Sunday-Thursday: 5 p.m. - 11 p.m. 

Friday- Saturday: 5 p.m. - 12 a.m.
